In
Germany they have a standard DIN 32757. This standard
relates a shred size to document security. We have used
this standard on the site to help you choose what type
of machine is most suitable for your individual requirements.
There are 5 levels of data security, 1 is the largest
shred size and 5 the smallest shred size.
The shred capacity is the maximum amount of sheets the machine can take. If paper folds over when going into the blades the capacity will drop. All shred capacity figures are based on 70 gsm paper. (Normal copier paper is 80gsm)
Catch Basket
All machines specifications give the catch basket volume. The larger the volume, the less frequently the bin need to be emptied. Cross cut shredders will need emptying less than the same machine shredding into strips because the shredded paper is not so bulky.
