Shredders shred into strips (spaghetti) or cross cut (confetti). Cross cut offers better data security whilst strip cut offers higher capacity (less time shredding).

In Germany they have a standard DIN 32757. This standard relates a shred size to document security. We have used this standard on the site to help you choose what type of machine is most suitable for your individual requirements. There are 5 levels of data security, 1 is the largest shred size and 5 the smallest shred size.

The shred capacity is the maximum amount of sheets the machine can take. If paper folds over when going into the blades the capacity will drop. All shred capacity figures are based on 70 gsm paper. (Normal copier paper is 80gsm)
